Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor and oppressed. Psalm 82:3
On Mother's day of 2017, we announced to the world that we are adopting. It has been a year into our journey, and we are excited to finally announce that we are officially MATCHED! Praise God! After 6 failed matches with expectant mother's from all around the US, it feels so good to say that we may soon have the child God intends for us.
With as many ups and downs and unforseen steps in the process, we have tried our best to keep many of you updated in person, and have even shared some updates on our blog, jaynsarasjourney.com. We have done everything we can on our part, through prayer, faith, and trusting in the Lord to see ourselves up to this point.
We have made sacrifices and changed many of our ways of living during this journey in order to get where we are today. In a nuthsell, we saved for a few months in order to cover the initial home study fees. We sold 2 cars and replaced them with 2 cheaper ones in order to make our full payment to the adoption agency we chose. We cut down some categories of our monthly budget to begin setting up a nursery and adding to our "adoption fund." We sold several unused and valuable items through online sites to begin saving for the next mountains we have to climb: Attorney/legal/birth mother medical & living expenses, and finalization/post placement fees.
To keep it real with you all, we have spent at least $25,000 already, and we have an estimated $20,000 ahead of us. We believe that with fundraising, we can supplement all we are doing to reach our goal. We are not ones to typically ask for help, but we fully believe that God is stretching us to ask His children to help with something we believe is from Him. We want to do fundraisers that aren't just about asking for money, but rather, inviting you to be a part of something bigger than yourselves, and receive a token reminder of your support.
Would you be a part of our beautiful story?
